Booth Fee: $200
Location: Warm Mineral Springs, FL
Overall Rating: 0 out of 5
I tried this show for the first and last time on January 18th & 19th 2012. While the concept of the show is good, giving artists a show to participate in between weekends, it needs more thought, consideration, planning, and advertising by the organizers. Although it was stated that the show received an average of 5,000 people over the two days, there were not even 200 people that passed by the 17 exhibiting artists. The booths were arranged poorly and people had to pay the admission fee for the mineral springs in order to gain admittance to the art show. Those that did attend were mostly Russian/Ukranian and could not speak English which in turn lowered sales dramatically.
The organizers of the show allowed buy/sell vendors to participate even though it was advertised as a fine art show. No advertising was done to publicize the show nor was there any concern or cooperation from the organizers to take the advice of the artists on ways to improve the show. There were a number of artists who did not sell anything and many more who did not make back their booth fee of $200. The only ones who did well were the buy/sell vendors who had cheap and inexpensive items.
Even though Community Affair's website and information on Zapplication does a good job of making this sound like a show to try, I would advise that you stay clear. Give them more time to figure out the ways to make the show better for both the artists and the attendees.
